Why use this tool

Most oversized PDFs are heavy because of embedded images and duplicated fonts, not because of their content. Our optimizer downsamples images, removes duplicate resources and subsets fonts, so a scanned contract that was 24 MB usually lands between 2 and 6 MB with text that is still crisp on screen.

How to compress pdf in three steps

  1. 1

Upload the PDF that is too large.

  2. 2

Pick a compression level for your use case.

  3. 3

Download the smaller file and compare the size.

Frequently asked questions

Which compression level should I choose?

Recommended suits email and everyday sharing. Strong is best for web uploads where size matters most. Light keeps print quality for documents you will send to a printer.

Why did my file barely get smaller?

PDFs that are mostly vector text are already efficient. The biggest savings come from documents containing photos or scans.

Is the text still searchable after compression?

Yes. Compression never rasterises existing text layers, so search and copy still work.
